Medical, Administrative and Ophthalmic Assistant
FOR MAY, JUNE OR JULY START DATE

We’re looking for a reliable, multi-talented individual to join our small, fast-paced medical practice. This hybrid role combines medical assistant duties and administrative and front desk duties. The team member will receive training on providing front desk support and administrative support, and ophthalmic technician roles. The position will be three or occasionally four full days a week, and the exact day will vary by the week.

Perfect for a pre-health post-baccalaureate position. Three (sometimes 4) days week, for at least a year.

Key Responsibilities
​
Medical Receptionist Duties:

Greet and check in patients with warmth and professionalism
-
Schedule appointments, manage reminders, and handle patient communication
-
Answer phones, direct inquiries, and maintain accurate patient records
-
Verify insurance and collect co-pays
-
Process referrals and prior authorizations
​
Ophthalmic Technician Support:
-
As needed, perform preliminary testing duties of a ophthalmic technician (training available)
-
Assist the physician during eye exams and minor in-office procedures
-
Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment
Surgical Scheduling:
-
Coordinate surgical procedures and pre/post-op appointments
-
Communicate with patients about surgical instructions and timelines

Track all surgical follow-ups and requirements

Marketing & Office Support:

As needed, contribute to social media and patient engagement campaigns

Help manage online presence and reputation

Assist with marketing materials and occasional community outreach

Back Office Operations:
-
Monitor and restock clinical and administrative supplies
-
Organize and maintain supply areas and exam rooms
-
Receive, check, and process deliveries
-
Assist with general office organization and problem-solving

Qualifications
-
Prior experience in a medical setting is preferred but not required – training available
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment
-
Proficiency with EHR systems and general office software
-
Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
-
Comfortable taking on a wide range of responsibilities and learning new skills

Bilingual a plus
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications a plus
